  1. Hi! I don't know if you'd be willing to do it, but would it be possible for you to add Dodo AU Internet to the list of supported ISP's?

I've been hunting around for AGES to find a good usage meter for dodo, and I've come up with little results that I'm happy with.

I want something that I can have on my desktop as a gadget. I mean, Firefox addons are cool and all, but I don't want to have to open my browser to check how much usage I've got.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi Hyperstrike,

This meter basically came about because I couldn't find something I liked for myself, then made it available to the community. As such, I really don't see myself implementing and testing for another ISP, unless I move to them.

Having said that, the code is all pretty modular, so if you or someone you know is interested in coding up the retrieval and formatting of usage data, I'm happy to include it in the application. The easiest way would be to download the gadget, extract it (rename to .zip and open), take the Internode.js class and create one with the same methods supporting Dodo and flick it on to me. It's all javascript, so anyone with decent JavaScript skills should be able to make it happen.

  3. Is there a way I can contact you, so if I do find something - I can send you the files?

Right now I think I have something that's taken from my current usage meter (the one I don't like using). I don't understand javascript (kinda didn't bother with it during my webclasses) so if I send you said file, would you be able to look at it?

  4. Nice and simple, are you able to add the free traffic to the graphs?

  5. Hyperstrike, like I said, if someone else does the integration I'm happy to incorporate it in the official build, but simply don't have the time to much around supporting an ISP I have no personal interest in. Perhaps you should have bothered a little more in your web classes ;-) Sorry I can't be more help.

  6. Regarding unmetered data, external developers don't have access to this data yet. Once it's made available, I'll be sure to support it.

  7. When i said "could you take a look at it" I meant could you take a look at this one that I've found, that may or may not be what you need. If it isn't then I have someone on hand (maybe) who could make it to what you need.

  8. Hi, was just wondering if it has auto-update or something to tell you that theres an update. Not sure if you're planning to add to it but would like to know if theres any up coming updates.
    Thanks

  9. Regarding auto-update, when an update is available, you'll be notified by a download link on the meter, as shown in http://umet123.blogspot.com/2010/10/umet-overview.html. I don't have any updates planned anytime soon, though if there's something you'd like to see added, I'm always open to suggestions.

  10. Would it be possible to have the option to display actual numbers as well on the minimised view? Or perhaps a slightly bigger minimised view option? The number of MB/GB remaining, and the number of days remaining would be good.

  11. Re displaying numbers. Can you send a link to an image of what you're thinking of? I am reluctant to clutter the gadget, but if it can still look clean, than may be worth it.

Hi, How does this gadget behave with multiple Win7 user accounts on the same computer? I want to install it as an administrator, and have it so that all users get it in their task bar, and can look at the download info, but not be able to mess with the settings, or get the password.

I don't want my kids grabbing the password to upgrade the account, or buying extra features!

    I really like your gadget.

I also would like at least the option of number of GB used shown on the bar. I'd think centred on the used portion would be good.

Making it optional would allow it to be as cluttered as we like...

But more importantly would it be possible to include in the flyout information, the number of GB over or under the quota compared to "average".

So an example might be... for a 30 day month with a 60GB plan then the average is 2GB per day. If I've used 24GB on day 10 then I sould have used 10 x 2 = 20GB and so I'm 4GB over budget. Reporting that 4GB over budget would be great!

    Thanks for your consideration...

    Cheers,
    Tim.

  14. Have just d'loaded UMet and installed it - running OK!!! Is the s'ware affected by UAC? Does it have an auto time adjust? Or can I request thes features?

I am more than happy with what I see except for the above.

    Running: Win 7 Pro

  15. Sam-QLD:

UAC (user access control) has no effect on the gadget.

Auto time adjust. Are you talking about the update interval? It refreshes at the shortest frequency supported by the Internode API. More frequent refreshes will have no affect as 'Node caches the requests anyway. I don't provide a facility to force an update, as it's against 'Nodes terms of use for their API.

  16. Tim (16/05/11). Great idea regarding the budget. I'll include in the next update.

  17. KiWi Nick,

Just install under each account. Kids etc won't be able to get the password from the gadget.
